At St. Leo's Catholic Church, students in grade 2 and higher may prepare for the sacraments of First Reconciliation (confession) and First Eucharist (communion). To receive these sacraments at St. Leo's, students in public school and home school should: 1) be signed up for The Family of Faith (St. Leo's Faith Formation this year); and 2) participate in the retreats, homework, etc., that are a part of preparation for these two sacraments. Bishop Ryan Catholic School students do not need to attend the Family of Faith classes; however, they must participate in the retreats, homework, etc., that are a part of preparation for these two sacraments.
The preparation programs begin with orientation meetings for students and parents. The First Reconciliation Orientation Meetings will be on January 29th at 6:00 pm and on March 26th at 6:00 pm at St. Leo's. Children will receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation on Saturday, April 26th at 10:00 am.
The First Eucharist Meeting will be on April 30th at 6:00 pm. This will also be the rehearsal for First Eucharist. Children will receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist on Sunday, May 4th at 1:00 pm. This will be a mass just for First Communion participants and their families and will count as your Sunday obligation.
